Harrassowitz Verlag Awards the Annual Philippika-Preis


Harrassowitz Verlag, the publishing division of Otto Harrassowitz GmbH & Co. KG, is the proud sponsor of the Philippika-Preis. Named after the monographic series Philippika. Altertumswissenschaftliche Abhandlungen. Contributions to the Study of Ancient World Cultures, the award is presented annually to the author of an exceptional dissertation in the field of Classical Studies.

This year’s winning dissertation is “Die Ausbreitung des Isiskultes im Römischen Reich:Tradition und Transformation auf dem Weg von Ägypten nach Rom” (The Spread of the Isis Cult in the Roman Empire: Tradition and Transformation on the Way from Egypt to Rome) by Svenja Nagel. The award was presented by Dr. Barbara Krauss, Director Harrassowitz Verlag, during an award ceremony on July 8, 2016 at the University of Heidelberg, Germany.
