Even though seen widely controversial by church historians, Origen (185-254) - antique theologian, scholar and one of the early fathers of the Christian Church - has had a profound influence on Christian theology and European thought and intellectual history.
The new Greek/German edition makes his writings available as a historical resource for today’s religious, cultural, philosophical, theological and ethical problems. It is aimed at scientists of a diversity of fields.
The title is divided into three sections: Exegetische Schriften zum Alten Testament, Exegetische Schriften zum Neuen Testament and Traktate und Briefe. The texts are partly based on modern editions, others are newly edited. All will be published in contemporary German translation, some of them for the first time. Included are also introductions and a commentary on every text and translation.
