Music between Elbe and Oder - The Ortus Musikverlag:
The Ortus Musikverlag Beeskow specializes in the publishing of critical first editions of music of the 17th and 18th century and of contemporary compositions and musicological literature in general. Emphasis has always been placed on works related to the music tradition of the region between Elbe and Oder. The critical editions of Ortus offer a high standard of musicological expertise and are known for a convincing high level of typesetting and binding. The performers' needs are served well by a wide variety of performance material and vocal scores.
The Ortus Musikverlag publishes the series "Musik aus der Dresdner Hofkirche", "Instrumentalmusik am Dresdner Hof" and "Berliner Klassik". The "Oratorium in Festum Nativitatis Christi" by Carl Heinrich Graun, the first publication of Ortus, is now played and broadcast regularly in the German speaking countries, Scandinavia and the USA. In 2005 the highlight was "Pastorello musicale oder Verliebtes Schäferspiel" by Johann Sebastiani, the oldest thoroughly composed stage play dating back to 1663.
Since 2004 Ortus has established a successful cooperation with the renowned publishing house Max Niemeyer (Tübingen) and with the Franckesche Stiftungen (Halle/Saale). The first joint publication is the new print version of "Geistreiches Gesangbuch" by Johann Anastasius Freylinghausen (1704). In 2005 the Ständige Konferenz Mitteldeutsche Barockmusik in Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt und Thüringen e.V. has appointed Ortus to print their "Schriftenreihe" (HARR Series ID SCH4947) and "Jahrbuch" (HARR Series ID JAH1434).
