Special Offer (June 2009) Elisabeth Musiquen - A new series from Ortus Musikverlag:The musicological project "Elisabeth Musiquen" was founded in Berlin in 1998 with the goal to support research in the music of Berlin and Brandenburg in the period from the Reformation to the accession of Frederick the Great in 1740. The main focus is directed to sacred music of the 17th century. From 1999 to 2005 five editions were published by "Elisabeth Musiquen": the "Missa Dei Patris Benedicti" by Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, two large collections of the Berlin composer Johann Crüger (1598-1662) containing the German Magnificats ("Acht deutsche Magnificats") and the Latin Magnificats ("Laudes Dei Vespertinae"), the Mass cycle "Missae ad imitationem Orlandi" by Bartholomäus Gesius, cantor at the Marien Church in Frankfurt (Oder), and the opera "La fede ne’ tradimenti" by Attilio Ariosti (1666-1729), composed for and premiered at the Charlottenburg Court of Frederick I. Beginning with 2009 these editions are published within the series "Elisabeth Musiquen" by Ortus Musikverlag Berlin. All scores are cloth bound (38 cm).
