HARRASSOWITZ renewal instructions 2011:
Renewal season is upon us again!
All HARRASSOWITZ customers will soon receive an e-mail explaining the renewal process for subscription year 2011. The subject line of the e-mail will be "HARRASSOWITZ Renewal List – please read.” If you receive this message and you are not the correct renewal contact person, please forward it to the correct person. If your library has not received the renewal e-mail by June 30, please contact service@harrassowitz.de so that we may be sure that you receive it.
As in previous years, the message will be accompanied by an Annual Renewal Spreadsheet of all of your current subscriptions, with columns added where you may indicate your renewal instructions. Instructions for using the renewal spreadsheet are found on the second tab of the spreadsheet.
This year, HARRASSOWITZ is pleased to announce a new service: OttoSerials Renewal Management, an online tool that allows you to view your library's entire Annual Renewal List in real time and instantly submit your renewal instructions to HARRASSOWITZ using the familiar OttoSerials user interface.
OttoSerials Renewal Management provides the following advantages:
An expenditure summary, showing the amounts that have been specified for renewal and for cancellation, to assist you in meeting your budget targets
Real-time display of title information as it is received by HARRASSOWITZ; including up-to-date prices and publisher and title changes
Display of complete title details
Display of package components
Display of all subscription options for a title
Ability to limit the list by customer code, fund, medium, and other criteria, in order to work on portions of the list
After June 1, all OttoSerials accounts will include buttons on the Main Menu for Renewal Management; however, for most libraries they will not be functional until you specifically request that your account be activated for Renewal Management. If these buttons do not function, please contact service@harrassowitz.de to request activation of Renewal Management for your OttoSerials account. Even if your account is activated, you may still opt to use the renewal spreadsheet instead, but please don't mix the two.
Whichever method you use, HARRASSOWITZ has the following suggestions and requests:
To estimate 2011 prices, HARRASSOWITZ advises projecting a 6% inflation rate for all titles.
In order for HARRASSOWITZ to comply with publishers' renewal and cancellation deadlines, please submit your renewal instructions before September 1, 2010. If you need an extension to this date, please contact service@harrassowitz.de.
For libraries whose subscriptions are on an annual renewal basis, HARRASSOWITZ will not renew any subscriptions automatically. HARRASSOWITZ will renew annual renewal subscriptions only upon receipt of renewal instructions for 2011.
For libraries whose subscriptions are on a "renew until forbid" basis, in the absence of any renewal instructions by September 1, HARRASSOWITZ will assume that there should be no changes or cancellations and will renew all subscriptions as currently on record.
If cancellations are received after the library's subscriptions have been renewed, HARRASSOWITZ will provide a refund only if a refund is received from the publisher. Any service charge already invoiced will not be refunded.
Please remember to inform HARRASSOWITZ of any new, changed or cancelled e-package deals, including those handled through a consortium. Any updates should be e-mailed to service@harrassowitz.de.
